At The Green Clinic we deal sensitively and expertly with all aspects of women’s physiotherapy. This includes post-breast cancer surgery rehabilitation, pregnancy (e.g. sciatica and pelvic girdle pain [PGD]) and post-natal issues.
We also treat pelvic floor weakness and mild urinary incontinence.
This can happen to anyone, and for a variety of reasons – fluctuating hormones, childbirth, a chronic cough, repeated lifting of heavy objects, or simply getting older!
Many women are too embarrassed by pelvic floor weakness to seek advice – but there is no need to be. It is very common, and we can treat you swiftly and effectively.
Our sensitive and experienced female Physiotherapist can recommend individually-tailored exercises to help you and put the spring back into your step.
Our Approach
We are passionate about our preventative and rehabilitative treatment programmes. And integral to the success of that care is the focus we place on YOU.
We recognise that every injury and pain is unique and every persons’ situation is variable. So we take the time to understand what you’re experiencing and how it affects your life, so we can plan the most effective treatment to restore both your physical and overall wellbeing.
And we’ll do whatever it takes to get you back to that position, with physiotherapy that suits you, your temperament and lifestyle.
Our goal is to restore you to your previous level of mobility and beyond, as well as to help you fully understand why you are experiencing symptoms. So our patients not only see and feel tangible improvements, session after session, but are armed with the information they need to assist recovery and prevent a recurrence.
Whether it’s an ache, a pain, a sports injury, an ailment you’ve suffered with for years, the effects of an acute or chronic illness, or any point in-between, The Green Clinic is able to redress your body’s health.
At The Green Clinic we treat each patient as an individual.
Our Services Include
At The Green Clinic we use a range of physiotherapy treatments according to your needs.
These include, hands-on techniques, that are gentle or firm; electrotherapy, to stimulate more efficient healing of an injury; postural and ergonomic advice; rehabilitation exercises and stretches; advanced rehabilitation exercises for a return to sport.
In the first instance, we will assess you by looking at your posture, your range and quality of movement and your strength. We will feel for painful areas in muscles, ligaments and joints, to determine a diagnosis for your problem and develop the most appropriate treatment programme for you.
If you have already sought medical advice, we’ll collaborate with your doctor, plan your treatment, based on their diagnosis, yet in partnership with you, taking into account your age, health and lifestyle and your goals – whether you want to just walk down the street or run a marathon.
This uses relatively firm hands-on techniques to move and stretch muscles to enhance muscle and joint flexibility.
This uses hands-on techniques to assist stiff or painful joints to move better, so reducing pain. At the Green Clinic we also use assisted stretches to enhance muscle and joint flexibility.
Whatever your level of fitness and whatever your goal, we can help. We offer 1-to-1 training as well as creating programmes that you can carry out at home or at the gym, as well as periodic reviews to ensure you are getting the most out of your exercise programme and making progress.
From Pilates (beginners to advanced level) to exercises with weights or kettlebells, we will tailor your programme to your precise needs and requirements.
This is a system of slow exercises to enhance strength of the core – the deep muscles of the abdomen and back. These muscles are essential for supporting the lower back, upper back and neck.
These muscles are often found to be weak in individuals with a history of low back pain, as well as after pregnancy and in those who work in an office, and who often have neck and shoulder pain due to poor posture.
Pilates can also contribute to a relatively pain free pregnancy and labour.
We use very fine needles, usually 0.25mm thin, to treat pain. It can be very effective for muscle or joint pain, anywhere in the body.
This may be used in your first few sessions after an injury when pain is severe, or it can be used later on if progress has plateaued. Once we have reduced your pain, then we can use other physiotherapy techniques to further improve your movement and strength.
A kettlebell is like a cannon-ball with a handle. The exercises are very different to dumbbell exercises in that they are dynamic, done very quickly to increase the heart-rate as well as building strength. If you are new to kettlebells, you can try a sample session with a lighter weight.
We can tailor-make a kettlebells programme for you to do at home or at the gym, with regular reviews and mentoring.
Our female Physio Dana specialises in physiotherapy relating to women’s health, which refers to anything involving the pelvis or the pelvic floor. This can include incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain, SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) during pregnancy, and post-natal pain or discomfort. It may be an uncomfortable subject, but rest assured, you will be treated with sensitivity and absolute discretion!
We offer home visits within a 10-mile radius of our Clinic (please note that this will attract an extra charge). These enable patients who have recently had surgery, or who cannot reach the Clinic, to commence their Physiotherapy with the minimum of delay.
We also treat residents in a number of local care-homes.
TESTIMONIALS
"Stephen is very accommodating, and will put himself out for his patients, will see you at late in the evening if necessary, and is very competent. He used ultrasound to good effect to relieve my deep muscle pain."
"I had been suffering with a pain in my shoulder for over 2 years. I had a number of sessions with other physios but Stephen identified the source of the pain and treated it in 2 sessions - 2 years of pain eliminated in 2 hours. Fantastic!"
"My son Julien showed signs of pigeon-toe movement in his walking, while he tripped over his feet often. I made the decision to visit The Green Clinic and discovered that Julien passed most tests for hyper-mobility. The prescribed exercises have improved his posture, his walking, and his energy while playing and running. This guidance not only assisted with the diagnosed issue, but has also really helped my son’s self-confidence. Many thanks to Stephen for the great work he has done!!"
